Stuff About Me

Why Nature's Pixelator ?

Basically because I wanted a name that would try to convey the type of photography I mainly do, Nature photo's and when I have them on the computer each one is made of Pixels. I always try to have my camera with me, if I'm out and about with it in the car, maybe for something I have seen and perhaps not had the time to stop, or it's too dangerous to do so, with the amount of traffic, and take a few photo's, I do like to try and make sure I have a plan, especially at certain times of the year such as Autumn, this is so I can try and make sure the kit I have with me is right for the type of photo's I want to achieve.
When I drive to friends or family I'll be making a note of where a particular good looking or potential shot is, again this helps with what sort of equipment needed, no point in lugging everything around, then, when it's safe to park up, or I have plenty of time to devote to a good few hours shooting will return.

The Styles I Love

I mainly shoot nature subjects and use my back garden as my studio for most of the time, I take a lot of photographs out there and have become very fond of Macro shot's, I love to open up the view on things that look so ordinary with the naked eye, but when focused in on, can reveal a whole new world of detail, using the garden like this means it's only a short distance for me, due to the fact I can not move about too easily and the plants I like to photo are stuck in the ground, or in containers that can be moved to a more suitable height ;-) if not too heavy, suits me fine.
When I have decided to have a Macro session with the plants, it's dependant on the weather to be in the right condition, nothing worse than getting all set up for a shoot and then have the wind get up and start blowing my subjects all over the place, but looking on the bright side I tend to think, at least I'm out in the fresh air !

I do get out and about, as mentioned above, and like to try different styles such as Landscapes or Architectural studies, I've even given the Portraits a go, taking mainly photo's of the family, it helps when you have Grandchildren, ever changing and up to all sorts of things, plus everyone who knows you 'take pictures' wants to have their little ones captured, I mean who doesn't love a photo of a cute baby ?

The Good the Bad and the Deleted !

So I first got into photography way back in the days of "film" when you either had to take your roll to the chemist's wait about 10 days then return to see what you had captured, or do the developing yourself !
Of course some of us were lucky enough to have the chance to develop our own pictures ;-) but this meant messing about with chemicals, the thing about this though, was you could determine the output and adjust for any imperfection, plus, it was fun at the time.

Now we have the wonder of "digital" with instant review and deletion of the shots, it's a whole new type of darkroom environment, I'm sure that I'm not the first to admit, or say, there are thousands of photographs on my computer hard drives that I took with the thought of "processing" them on the computer later, but have never had the time to get round to achieving that !
This has turned out to be not such a bad thing though because like most I have continued to try and keep up with the advances with digital cameras and when you sometimes look back at older shots you really wonder did "we" think that these were great photo's ?
Of course it could also be that over time you get accustomed to how this medium works and with the help of certain "Photo" manipulation programs your digital darkroom skills also develop, but it's good to be able to look back and see how times and camera techniques have improved, with you along side of them ! ;-)

I do hope that you will take a peek at some of the shot's I've taken so far @ Nature's Pixelator You never know there maybe something there that you would Like or could Comment on, which I will be grateful for, hope to see you online somewhere soon, take care Nat Pix :-D
